How do I know if my hybrid battery is failing?
Most common signs: dashboard warning lights (check hybrid system, triangle of death on Toyota), sharp drop in fuel economy, battery gauge fluctuating rapidly, gas engine running constantly even at low speeds, and reduced power. If you're seeing any of these, the battery pack likely has weak or dead cells.
How much does hybrid battery repair or replacement cost?
Depends on whether you need a cell-level repair or full pack replacement. Cell repair is significantly cheaper. Dealers jump straight to full replacement at $3,000-$5,000+. We diagnose first, find the actual problem, and give you all your options with exact pricing before any work starts. Our labor rate is $135/hr vs $175+ at dealers.
Can you repair my hybrid battery instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If only a few cells are bad, we can replace just those cells instead of the entire pack. This saves you a significant amount. We test each cell individually to find the weak ones. Not every shop has the equipment or knowledge to do cell-level repair — we do.
How long does hybrid battery repair take?
Cell-level repair: same day in most cases. Full pack replacement: 3-5 hours depending on the vehicle. Toyota Prius is on the faster end, SUVs and Lexus models take longer due to battery location. We'll give you the timeline after diagnosis.
Do you work on plug-in hybrids (PHEV)?
Yes. We work on both standard hybrids (Prius, Camry Hybrid, etc.) and plug-in hybrids (Chevy Volt, RAV4 Prime, etc.). Different battery chemistry, same diagnostic process — we test cells, find the problem, and give you options.
